The exhibition, which is considered worldwide to be at the forefront of the occupational health and safety events, was held for the first time at the London ExCeL, a move integral to its internationalisation.

Attendees included the great and the good from across the industry including pertinent representatives from: Airbus, Kuwait National Oil Company, Shell and Saudi Aramco, Chelsea Football Club, Marks & Spencers, Skanska, Bouygues, Bovis Homes, Footlocker, Credit Suisse, Allianz, Drax Power and Severn Trent. Heather Beach, Director – OSH Global, UBM Live, said:

“We had an excellent quality of turnout this year in London. To host executives from the world’s largest businesses is an honour and bodes well for our future as an international meeting point for the sector.”

All in all, a strong mix of suppliers including manufacturers, distributors, training and software providers companies were present. Alongside were a healthy mix of end users, specifiers and influencers: safety & construction engineers, healthcare providers, retailers, local government representatives, academics and management consultants.

Stuart Thorne, UK Managing Director, U-Power said:

“We have been very lucky with the sort of customers we have seen with a cross-section from wholesale distribution all the way through to end-users. We have met construction engineers, which is our core business, all the way to owners of businesses and health and safety advisors, who specify the products within our end-user industry.”

The international contingent saw a particularly strong turnout from Ireland, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Finland, Kuwait, Singapore, China, Japan, Nigeria and United States. Senior management and middle management were out in force, with the hands on role of business owners and health and safety manager prevalent amongst those from overseas.

The show, dedicated to occupational health and safety, is part of the Protection & Management Series. Show organisers recorded a strong influx of visitors into the exhibition from the co-located events of IFSEC International, FIREX International, Facilities Show, Energy & Environment Expo and Service Management Expo.  Jeff Thorndick, Sales & Marketing Director, Greenham Safety & Workplace Supplies said:

“The co-location has been a good idea. What we have seen is that visitors from FIREX and other shows were coming along to our stand and showing interest in our products. It has incorporated a lot more customers to show product to, a new customer set.”

The event hosted five dedicated seminar theatres, which featured experts and specialists presenting on core issues facing the industry. Over 80 speakers covered a wide range of topics across the three days including working at height, safety on construction sites, safety culture and fracking. The surrounding exhibition accommodated 337 companies who had come from all parts of the country and from abroad. Also, co-located was the IOSH 2014 Conference, the RoSPA awards and LiftEx 2014.
