Latest T-post: Filesharing mum stung for two million dollars

Issue 47 of T-post, the wearable magazine, is inspired by this story and entitled “Negotiating a War”, by designer Siggi Eggertsson.

Born on the north coast of Iceland and now located in Berlin, Siggi Eggertsson first showed interested in Graphic Design at the age of 14. He got involved in local design programs, created posters for jazz concerts and art exhibitions. Over the years Siggi’s work has been part of everything from Dazed and Confused, Wallpaper, Wired Magazine and The New York Times, to numerous international music projects.

For this issue of T-post he made a modern-day piracy scull. As the old scull alludes to dark times and death – although you’re pretty much dead of the RIAA decides to sue you! – Siggi has splashed some colour on it to shed a little light and optimism for the future.

Why?

For our subscribers, it’s an opportunity to share something interesting about the world, about them, and start a dialogue with a complete stranger.

For us, it’s a way to use fashion and art to spread the word about things that are important to us and the world by using one of the best pop culture mediums ever invented – the graphic t-shirt. Of course, we couldn’t do this without the help of our subscribers, who now span over 50 countries.

Every time they wear an issue of T-post, it means another interpretation of the original story. It becomes their own depending on how they choose to talk about it. And information spreads like a game of Chinese whispers.

The idea was born back in 2004 as a fun project amongst friends. We started out by making the first issue in just five copies. But the word began to spread and the rest, as they say, is history.

A subscription costs 19 EUR per T-shirt (200 SEK for residents of Sweden), and can be delivered anywhere in the world.

What else is new?

* T-post just launched their new site with a new all-subscriber-model-gallery and a animated film called “What the F**k is T-post” http://www.youtube.com/user/TpostTV#play/uploads/2/VLiIqK_H6Cc

* T-post just signed a contract with a US distributor, Chad Rea (www.chadrea.com) to make T-post more present on the US market. Lundgren states, “I’ve been searching for years to find the right person to help introduce T-post to the U.S. market. Chad has the perfect background and experience to help bring T-post to the next level. I feel very fortunate to have him in the T-post Family.”

* We are now in the final stages of completing the first film in a series of documentaries highlighting people in the T-post family. This first film gives you a chance to get to know Karin and Carina. Every six weeks they neatly check every single Tee for misprints and holes, and folds and package them to be shipped out to all four corners of the world. But before the package is shipped they singlehandedly check all 2,500 address labels to make sure they are accurate. Karin and Carina are two cool and lovely women and this is our tribute to them. The film is being released this fall.
