Equal Experts is now in the North – and growing fast

It currently has over 80 software consultants working in agile development teams in Manchester, Leeds and Newcastle, contributing to varied projects for clients including HMRC, ESP Group, and The Co-op.

For ESP Group, the provider of smart ticketing solutions for leading organisations such as Transport for London, and the Association of Train Operating Companies, we have collaborated with the company’s internal IT team. Implementing practices such as Scrum, Test Driven Development and pair programming have transformed the team’s ability to deliver software internally.

With Co-op Funeralcare, we have built a digital service to assist funeral homes in the end-to-end arrangement of funerals – freeing up valuable time to spend with customers. The service is due to go into Beta later this year.

To support our growth in the North, Equal Experts has also recently opened a new office in Central Working, in the heart of Manchester’s buzzing tech scene. This new space joins the Equal Experts head office in London, and our sister offices in other international tech hubs: New York, Lisbon, Pune and Calgary.

Jon Dickinson, a Partner at Equal Experts, observed “The speed of our growth in the North is a reflection of the successful and innovative business model that Equal Experts has pioneered. All our consultants have around 10 years’ experience in delivering software for major clients, and this focus on senior people brings many benefits. The ‘Equal’ in our name refers to our flat structure, where everyone is empowered to work autonomously. Experienced people know what they’re doing – we free them to do what they do best.”

The approach has seen Equal Experts, founded in 2007 by Thomas Granier and Ryan Sikorsky, grow into a network of some 600 software professionals worldwide. The company contributes to major IT programmes for a wide range of private and public sector clients, specialising in the development of large-scale custom software for enterprise and all matters relating to digital transformation. A notable example is the Multi-channel Digital Tax Platform that HMRC has developed with help from Equal Experts – named Digital Project of the Year at the 2015 UK IT Industry Awards.

As the company continues to expand in the North, it welcomes enquiries from across the region – whether from potential clients, or highly-skilled, experienced digital practitioners.
