Which PR Newswire alternative is right depends on the job. Listed companies with disclosure duties should compare Business Wire and GlobeNewswire. eReleases sells national PR Newswire distribution for a published $399. Below PR Newswire’s reported $850 national starting price sit EIN Presswire ($149), PRWeb (from $120), Newswire.com (from $399), Presswire ($250), PR Fire (£95 +VAT) and Pressat (from £110).
The tenth, ACCESS Newswire, sells monthly subscriptions. Every price here was read on the provider’s own website in October 2026 or is labeled as reported and attributed, because PR Newswire no longer publishes a rate card.
What you are comparing against: PR Newswire’s price
PR Newswire does not publish its prices, so any comparison starts from reported figures that disagree with each other.
Both of PR Newswire’s former pricing addresses, prnewswire.com/pricing/ and prnewswire.com/account/pricing/, returned a 404 on October 19, 2026. Two well-placed sources describe what it charges:
- Prezly, in a pricing guide updated September 21, 2026, reports that PR Newswire’s own page listed $355 for a 400-word state release, $650 for top markets and $850 for national US distribution, with four-release bundles at $2,395, $3,095 and $3,895, before the page was withdrawn.
- eReleases, which sells national PR Newswire distribution, says on its pricing page that for a 500-word release “the Cision PR Newswire price list shows a range between $715-$865 for a local city/state distribution to more than $1500 for a national press release distribution, plus a $305 setup fee.”
The two cover different word counts, but 100 words does not explain a gap that size. Until PR Newswire prints a price again, the only number you can rely on is a written quote. Our breakdown of PR Newswire pricing covers the fees that move it.
PR Newswire alternatives at a glance (October 2026)

Published means read on the provider’s own website on the date shown; reported means a named third party’s figure that the provider has not confirmed. US providers quote in US dollars and do not state VAT. PR Fire’s prices exclude 20% UK VAT for UK residents. Pressat’s packages page does not state VAT treatment. Presswire’s prices exclude VAT, and any VAT is shown at checkout before you pay.
Start with the job PR Newswire was doing for you
The right alternative depends less on price than on which of four jobs you need done.
- Disclosure. A listed company releasing material information needs an approved route to the market.
- National wire reach. You want the release carried on a US newswire into newsrooms, databases and partner sites.
- Online visibility. You want a permanent, searchable copy on news sites, with links back to you.
- Coverage. You want reporters who cover your subject to read the release and decide whether to write about it.
The last two are often confused. Publication on a network of sites is syndication: it happens automatically and creates a public record. Editorial pickup is a journalist choosing to write about your news. Both are worth buying, but they are different products, and our guide to the three models of press release distribution shows how to tell which one a provider is selling.
For listed companies: Business Wire and GlobeNewswire
If your release carries disclosure obligations, the like-for-like alternatives are the other two large financial wires, and your counsel’s brief matters more than the price.
Business Wire
Business Wire is the only one of the three big US wires that prints a price on its own site. Its pricing page gave a starting price of $475 for 400 words on US domestic local distribution when we read it on October 20, 2026, with unlimited hyperlinks, a full-color linked logo, editorial review, analytics and 24/7 support included. Prezly’s pricing guide, updated September 21, 2026, also reports regional distribution from $510 and national from $940, both for 400 words, and attributes both figures to Business Wire.
Prezly also reports five-release packages for qualifying customers sending non-earnings releases, at $2,595 local, $3,495 regional and $4,495 national with unlimited word count, and says Business Wire’s FAQ states there is no membership fee. Extra words, multimedia, translation and international circuits are quoted. Against PR Newswire’s reported figures, Business Wire’s local and national starting prices are higher, its regional price is below PR Newswire’s top-market tier and its packages cost less per release.
GlobeNewswire
GlobeNewswire, part of Notified, publishes no rate card. Prezly found none when it checked in September 2026 (guide updated October 9, 2026) and reports that registration is free and distribution is quoted. The only dated estimate we could trace is ITQlick’s $350 to $900 per release (updated October 19, 2026), which it labels a third-party estimate. Prezly reports that GlobeNewswire’s distribution page lists 158 countries, 35 local languages and more than 1,000 newslines.
Some lower-cost services also sell financial distribution (Newswire.com lists one), so ask your counsel or exchange which routes qualify. Presswire can also arrange regulated disclosure distribution on request, including Reg FD-compliant releases and SEC EDGAR filings.
Cheaper routes onto PR Newswire’s own network: eReleases and PRWeb
Two of the lowest-cost ways to replace PR Newswire keep you close to it: eReleases resells national PR Newswire distribution, and PRWeb belongs to the same parent company, Cision.
eReleases
eReleases publishes a full rate card. Its $399 Buzz Builder package covers 400 words, one industry target list, two images and national Cision PR Newswire distribution. Newsmaker is $499 for 500 words and two lists. PR Pro is $699 for 600 words, three lists and a direct-to-journalist email send. Each extra block of 100 words, or part block, costs $150, as does embedding an image. First-time customers save 30%.
If you want PR Newswire’s national wire at a price you can see in advance, this is the most direct route. Length is where it climbs: a 700-word release on the $399 tier is $849, because the extra 300 words are three $150 blocks.
PRWeb
PRWeb’s pricing page lists four tiers per news release. Basic is $120, for search visibility with unlimited media assets. Standard, at $245, adds syndication to more than 1,200 websites “powered by PRNewswire.” Advanced, at $360, adds an email to one industry-curated journalist list plus proofreading. Premium, at $480, adds Sovrn’s content recommendation network.
PRWeb suits online visibility on a budget; only its two upper tiers include a send to journalists, and that is to one list.
Lower-cost online distribution: EIN Presswire, Newswire.com and ACCESS Newswire
If the goal is a public, searchable record on news sites rather than a reporter’s attention, these three US services price below PR Newswire’s reported national tier or bundle distribution with other tools.
EIN Presswire
EIN Presswire, a separate company with no connection to Presswire, has the lowest per-release price in this comparison once you buy in volume. One release is $149, with a 700-word limit and one embedded image. Five releases are $499, with a sixth free under a limited-time offer. Fifteen are $999, or $66.60 each. Its pricing page says every package includes placement on AP News; distribution to the USA TODAY Network and Nexstar Media Group based on relevance; targeted journalists; and news aggregators including Google News and Bloomberg Terminals.
Newswire.com
Newswire.com’s pricing page lists four packages, each priced per release: Starter at $399 for publication on Digital Journal and other online news and media sites, Basic at $659 (adds AP News), Feature at $965 (adds Yahoo, Nexstar and other major outlets) and state distribution at $599. The page says these prices cover unlimited words and images, so a long release costs no more than a short one. Newswire.com lists ACCESS Newswire as a sister brand.
ACCESS Newswire
ACCESS Newswire, formerly ACCESSWIRE (the old pricing address now redirects to accessnewswire.com), publishes subscriptions rather than a single-release price. Its subscription page lists $920 a month for Budget, $1,150 for National and $1,525 for Premium. Each includes one release a month plus a media database, monitoring and pitching credits; three releases a month cost $380 to $600 a month more. Annual billing takes 20% off, bringing Budget to $736 a month. The company says it operates its own wire.
That suits a team that sends every month and would otherwise buy a media database and monitoring separately. For two or three releases a year, a single-release service will cost less.
For coverage from journalists: Presswire, PR Fire and Pressat
If the release needs reporters rather than pickup pages, and especially if some of the audience is outside the US, look at services that build a media list for each release and have a person read it first.
Presswire
Presswire has distributed press releases from London since 2001 and has a US presence. Distribution to one region (the UK, Europe, North America or Asia) is $250 (£185, €220) per release; worldwide is $400 (£300, €350). Every release gets a human editorial check and test-send and a media list built for that release. Images and embedded video cost nothing extra, and there is no word-count surcharge. Releases are published on presswire.com and on Presswire’s Google News title, greatreporter.com, and syndicated to NewsNow, Dow Jones Factiva, LexisNexis, Thomson Reuters and Comtex. They are normally sent within an hour of receipt, and you can order online without an account.
Optional add-ons include placement on PA Media’s newswire through PA Mediapoint ($235), guaranteed publication on more than 400 news sites led by the Associated Press ($290) and a tracking report ($95). The full rate card is on the Presswire pricing page, and how Presswire’s press release distribution works is set out separately. Prices exclude VAT; any VAT is shown at checkout before you pay.
Presswire is not the cheapest option here: EIN Presswire, PRWeb, PR Fire and Pressat all start lower. The difference buys an editor’s read, a list built for the story and a price that does not change with the length of the release.
PR Fire
PR Fire publishes £95 +VAT ($150) for press release distribution, covering bespoke targeted media distribution, a dedicated campaign manager and a distribution report, or £290 +VAT ($330) with writing. Its pricing page says distribution “sends your release to journalists and publications, and any coverage is at their discretion.” Prices exclude 20% UK VAT for UK residents.
Pressat
Pressat’s packages page lists pay-as-you-go from £110 per submission, a subscription from £290 a month for five releases and a £880 bundle of ten. Each package lists targeted distribution, guaranteed syndication, 33,000 media subscribers and human review, with images and files attached at no charge. International add-ons start at £49 for one country, £99 for a continent and £199 for global circuits, and Pressat offers a PA Media add-on through its partnership. The page does not state VAT treatment.
How to compare quotes like for like
Put every option on the same brief, because the headline prices above buy different things.
- Count your words. PR Newswire’s reported tiers, Business Wire and eReleases price a 400-word base; EIN Presswire’s single release allows 700; Newswire.com and Presswire do not charge by length.
- Name the circuit. Local, state, national and worldwide are different products.
- Ask about account terms. Membership, setup fees, minimum volumes and renewals are where quote-only pricing hides cost.
- Ask who receives it. Journalists chosen for the story, or websites that publish it automatically?
- Price the proof. Tracking and monitoring are separate line items at most providers.

Frequently asked questions
What is the best alternative to PR Newswire?
It depends on the job. For regulated disclosure, Business Wire or GlobeNewswire. To stay on PR Newswire’s wire for less, eReleases, from $399. For low-cost online publication, PRWeb (from $120) or EIN Presswire ($149). For a reviewed send to journalists, Presswire ($250 per region), PR Fire (£95 +VAT) or Pressat (from £110).
What is cheaper than PR Newswire?
Against PR Newswire’s reported starting prices of $355 for a state release and $850 national (Prezly, September 21, 2026), PRWeb (from $120), EIN Presswire ($149), PR Fire ($150, or £95 +VAT), Presswire ($250) and Pressat (from £110) all cost less for a single release. eReleases sells national PR Newswire distribution from $399. They are not all the same product, so compare what each one sends and to whom.
Is PRWeb the same as PR Newswire?
No, but they share an owner: both are Cision brands. PRWeb sells online distribution from $120 per release, with syndication “powered by PRNewswire” from its $245 tier. PR Newswire is the newswire itself and currently sells on quote.
Does any PR Newswire alternative guarantee coverage?
No. Some services guarantee publication on named websites, which is syndication. None can guarantee that a journalist writes about your announcement, and neither can PR Newswire.
Do public companies need PR Newswire?
Not PR Newswire specifically, but usually a financial wire. Your exchange rules and disclosure policy decide the channel. Business Wire and GlobeNewswire both sell investor-relations and financial distribution, so ask each to name the endpoints your obligations require.
