GlobeNewswire pricing and costs, explained

GlobeNewswire does not publish a price. Its owner, Notified, runs a page titled “GlobeNewswire vs. PR Newswire: Pricing” that argues GlobeNewswire has “transparent pricing” and “fewer add-on fees”, and that page contains no dollar figure of any kind. Registration is free; distribution is a custom quote. Third-party estimates run from about $350 to $900 per release (ITQlick, checked October 2026), and none of them links to a rate card, because there is none to link to.

This article explains what GlobeNewswire says about its own pricing, what the estimates are worth, how to get a real number, and what a published alternative costs.

What GlobeNewswire says about its pricing

Notified’s comparison page, dated April 6, 2026 and checked on October 20, 2026, makes its case in terms of what is included rather than what is charged. GlobeNewswire pricing, it says, “includes many core capabilities such as trade targeting, analytics and AI-ready metadata that are often added as separate costs elsewhere”, and syndicated-article amplification “can be purchased per release or as part of an annual package”. The sharpest line is aimed at PR Newswire: “Membership fees are added to the top of high list rates. Costs are non-transparent and basic services often incur extra charges.”

All of that may be true. But a page about transparent pricing that states no price is making an argument about structure, not cost. You still cannot put a number in a budget without speaking to a salesperson.

What the estimates say, and what they are worth

Because GlobeNewswire publishes nothing, the search results for its pricing belong to review sites and competitors reconstructing numbers from quotes they have seen. In October 2026 the only current, named estimate we could trace looks like this:

Reported figureWhat it claims to coverSource and reliability
$350 to $900 per releasea standard releaseITQlick, checked October 2026: a review site’s estimate, which itself says the vendor publishes no pricing
no figure—Prezly, updated October 9, 2026: found no GlobeNewswire rate card in September 2026

Older and wider ranges, up to $1,200 or $1,500 a release, still circulate; we could not trace any of them to a dated source, so they are left out.

Prezly, which maintains the most careful of the pricing guides, went looking for a GlobeNewswire rate card in September 2026 and reported that it found none. Its guide, updated October 9, 2026, treats every exact GlobeNewswire figure it sees elsewhere as unverified unless it links to a current rate card, invoice or dated quote. That is the right standard, and by that standard there is no honest single answer to “how much does GlobeNewswire cost?” The estimates we could trace run from about $350 to $900 for a normal release, and you will not know where yours falls until you ask.

What drives the quote

The pattern across the big U.S. wires is consistent even where the numbers are not. The quote is built from four things:

  • Circuit. A state or metro list, a U.S. national list, or an international circuit. National is roughly double local, or a little more.
  • Word count. An allowance, usually 400 words, with every further 100 words charged.
  • Multimedia. Each image, video or attachment is a line item. Notified says logo support is included by default.
  • Program versus one-off. Annual packages and volume commitments bring the per-release price down. The single release pays the highest rate.

GlobeNewswire’s pitch is that more of the second and third items are bundled in than at PR Newswire. For a company with an ongoing program that may well be worth something. For a company with one announcement, bundled features do not change the fact that the headline figure is unknown.

A published price, for comparison

Presswire publishes its full rate card. Press release distribution to one region — the UK, Europe, North America or Asia — is $250 (£185, €220) per release, and worldwide distribution is $400 (£300, €350). Prices exclude VAT; any VAT is shown at checkout before you pay. No membership, no quote: the pricing page is the invoice.

These are different products. GlobeNewswire’s U.S. and financial circuits are built for listed companies’ disclosure obligations, and if that is what your announcement needs, the quote is worth getting. The comparison is for the buyer who does not need it and has been paying for it because the alternative was not visible.

How to get a real number from GlobeNewswire

Register, which is free, and request a quote with your release already written. Ask for the price of your actual word count and circuits, each image separately, and whether the quoted figure is a one-off rate or assumes an annual package. Ask what “included” means for analytics and syndicated articles on a single release. Get it in writing. Then compare it with a published rate card, because that is the only comparison you can actually make.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a GlobeNewswire press release cost?
GlobeNewswire does not publish prices. Third-party estimates in October 2026 run from about $350 to $900 for a standard release (ITQlick), with wider circuits, multimedia and enterprise packages costing more. Only a quote gives the real figure.

Is GlobeNewswire cheaper than PR Newswire?
Notified, which owns GlobeNewswire, says so and argues that more features are included by default. Neither company currently publishes a rate card (PR Newswire’s pricing page now returns a 404), so the claim cannot be checked against a list price.

Does GlobeNewswire charge a membership fee?
Registration is free. Distribution is paid per release or through a package, on quote.

Is there an alternative with a published price?
Presswire distributes a release to one region — the UK, Europe, North America or Asia — for $250 (£185) and worldwide for $400 (£300), with the full rate card on its pricing page.
