Meltwater does not publish prices. Its pricing page lists four plans, Starter, Pro, Enterprise and Agency, each marked “Contact Sales”. Third-party purchasing data puts the median bill at $25,800 a year (Vendr, 126 purchases), with average spend of $14,269 a year at smaller companies and $64,950 at enterprises (SpendHound, October 1, 2026).
Most Meltwater agreements run for at least 12 months, according to Meltwater’s own pricing FAQ. The spread between those figures is wide because a Meltwater quote is assembled from modules, users and coverage, and two teams can buy very different things under the same plan name.
How much does Meltwater cost?
Reported figures put most Meltwater contracts between about $5,000 and $57,000 a year, with a median near $25,800; enterprise programs average about $65,000.
Every figure below is reported, not published: Meltwater gives no list price, so these come from procurement firms that track what their clients pay.

What Meltwater’s own pricing page says
Meltwater confirms that pricing is tailored, that most contracts are annual with a 12-month minimum, and that complex setups may carry a one-time onboarding charge.
The Meltwater pricing page, checked on October 19, 2026, is more forthcoming about how it prices than many rivals, even without numbers. Its FAQ says:
- “Meltwater uses tailored pricing rather than a one-size-fits-all list.” The quote depends on “the
breadth of sources and regions you want to monitor, volume of data and workflows, number of users, integrations, onboarding and support needs, and contract terms.”
- “Most partnerships are structured on annual agreements, with a minimum contract length of 12
months.”
- There is no self-serve free trial. You can request a free, human-guided demo.
- For enterprise or complex setups, “there may be a one-time implementation or onboarding charge,
which will be clearly outlined in your proposal.”
- Changes to a plan mid-contract are “handled on a case-by-case basis”.
- All customers get 24/7 multi-channel support.
The four plans, as the page describes them:
| Plan | Capabilities listed | Meltwater says it is best for | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | Media intelligence, social listening, AI visibility tracking, media relations; alerts and pre-built dashboards | Small comms and marketing teams, startups and scale-ups | Contact Sales |
| Pro | The same four, plus competitive benchmarking and custom dashboards | Regional teams, multi-channel marketing organizations | Contact Sales |
| Enterprise | Adds influencer marketing, API and MCP integrations, governance and permissions | Global brands with multiple markets or stakeholders | Contact Sales |
| Agency | Enterprise capabilities, built for multiple brands and clients | Agencies | Contact Sales |
What drives a Meltwater quote
Five things move the number: users, modules, coverage, contract length and setup.
Vendr’s page breaks the reported cost down by module. These are Vendr’s figures, not Meltwater’s, from a page marked February 2026:
| Component | Reported annual cost (USD) |
|---|---|
| Media monitoring, small team, single market | $15,000 to $25,000 |
| Media monitoring, broader coverage and several users | $30,000 to $60,000 |
| Social listening, added to monitoring | $10,000 to $30,000 |
| Media contacts database, added to an existing contract | $5,000 to $15,000 |
| Influencer marketing | $10,000 to $25,000 |
| Onboarding and training | $2,000 to $10,000 (one-time) |
| Annual renewal increase | Typically 3–7% |
| Multi-year discount | 10–20% compared with annual renewals |
Users. Vendr says pricing scales with licensed users, though not in a straight line, and that adding users mid-contract usually costs more than building them into the first deal.
Modules. Monitoring is usually the largest component. Social listening, the media database and influencer tools add to it. Bundling them at the start is generally cheaper than adding them later.
Coverage. Meltwater’s own list of factors begins with “the breadth of sources and regions you want to monitor”. Single-country monitoring costs less than global, and the source mix matters: ask directly whether print and broadcast are in the quote or only online news.
Contract length. Twelve months is Meltwater’s stated minimum for most agreements. Longer terms reportedly bring lower annual pricing but less flexibility.
Setup. Meltwater says complex setups may carry a one-time onboarding charge. Ask for it as a separate line so you can compare it with other quotes.
Before you sign, get written answers to five questions: which media types are included, what an extra user costs mid-term, whether the media database is in the price or an add-on, what onboarding costs, and what cap applies to the renewal increase.
Is Meltwater worth it?
For a team that uses monitoring, social listening and analytics together across markets, it can be; for a team that mainly wants clippings and a media list, it is usually more platform than the job needs.
Meltwater’s strengths are real. One login covers media monitoring, social listening, AI visibility tracking, media relations and, on the larger plans, influencer marketing, with 24/7 support for every customer and API and MCP integrations at Enterprise level. For a communications team that reports share of voice across countries every week, putting all of that in one place saves time and reconciliation work, and that is what the price pays for.
Compared with Cision, the reported figures do not give a clean answer. Vendr’s medians put Meltwater higher, at $25,800 a year against $12,625 for Cision. SpendHound’s enterprise averages point the other way: $64,950 for Meltwater against $87,883 for Cision. Neither vendor publishes prices, so the only reliable comparison is two quotes for the same scope.
Where Meltwater is hard to justify is the small team that needs one or two things: coverage alerts after a launch, or a list of reporters to pitch. Paying for a platform, with a 12-month minimum, to do one of those jobs is the situation in which cheaper options make sense.
Cheaper options for media monitoring
Online monitoring with published prices starts at about $199 a month, free alerts cost nothing, and print or broadcast monitoring usually still means a quote.
| Provider | What it monitors | Price (USD) | Evidence |
|---|---|---|---|
| Google Alerts | Web, news, blogs, video, books, discussions, finance | Free | google.com/alerts |
| Brand24 | Source list includes social platforms, news, blogs, podcasts, newsletters and reviews | $199 to $599 per month billed annually ($249 to $699 monthly); Enterprise from $1,499 per month | PUBLISHED: brand24.com/prices |
| Semrush AI PR Toolkit | News, blogs, Reddit and YouTube; Pro and Business plans only | $279 per month (Pro); $499 per month (Business) | PUBLISHED: Semrush plan page |

Competitor entries checked October 19, 2026. VAT: Presswire’s pricing page says “Prices exclude VAT. Any VAT is shown at checkout before you pay.” Brand24, Semrush and Talkwalker do not state VAT treatment on the pages read.
Google Alerts is the floor. It is free, and for a low-profile company it may be enough, but it covers only what Google indexes online and offers no reporting.
Brand24 is the clearest published price for social and online monitoring. Its Individual plan, $199 a month billed annually, covers three keywords, 2,000 mentions a month and one user. Its top standard plan, Business, is $599 a month billed annually for 25 keywords and 100,000 mentions.
Semrush AI PR Toolkit, formerly Prowly, adds monitoring of news, blogs, Reddit and YouTube to its Pro and Business plans, alongside its journalist database.
Presswire sells media monitoring in two forms. Monitoring of a single release costs $235 and tracks coverage in print, online, behind paywalls and on air for up to a month after distribution. Ongoing monitoring costs $320 a month for up to two keywords, phrases, stock symbols or company names, which is $3,840 a year. That is not a Meltwater replacement: its price list includes no social listening or analytics dashboards. But for a team that needs to know where its announcements landed, it costs a fraction of Vendr’s reported $15,000 to $25,000 for a small Meltwater monitoring contract.
Talkwalker sits at the full-platform end. Its pricing page offers three plans, Core, Analyze and Business, all priced on request, and says every plan includes unlimited users.
Cheaper options for media lists
If the part of Meltwater you need is the journalist database, options with published prices run from about $1,440 to $6,550 a year.
Meltwater lists media relations on all four of its plans, and sells a media database and press distribution among its products. Vendr reports that adding the media contacts database to an existing contract typically costs $5,000 to $15,000 a year. Added to Vendr’s $15,000 to $25,000 for small-team monitoring, that puts monitoring plus database at roughly $20,000 to $40,000 a year.
| Option | Database | How you send | Price (USD) | Evidence |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Meltwater media relations | Included on plans; database reported as an add-on | Outreach from the platform | $5,000 to $15,000 per year as an add-on | REPORTED: Vendr (Feb 2026 page) |
| Prezly Essential | Your own contacts, up to 5,000; curated lists priced separately | Email from Prezly | $120 per month billed annually ($1,440 a year) | PUBLISHED: prezly.com/pricing |
| Semrush AI PR Toolkit Base | Over 1 million journalist profiles | Email from your own domain, Gmail or Outlook | $149 per month ($1,788 a year) | PUBLISHED: Semrush plan page |
| Presswire subscription | 620,000+ media contacts in your chosen territory | Unlimited press release distribution, each release checked by an editor | $2,700 to $6,550 per year | PUBLISHED: presswire.com/pricing |
Competitor entries checked October 19, 2026. Prezly states its prices exclude VAT; Semrush’s plan page does not state VAT treatment.
Prezly is the cheapest published option, but it is a CRM and newsroom for contacts you already have, not a journalist database. Semrush’s AI PR Toolkit includes a large database at every plan and suits marketers who want to run their own pitching.
Presswire’s media contact database is sold as an annual subscription: twelve months of access to 620,000+ media contacts, unlimited press release distribution and a complimentary Tracking Report with every release, in the territory you choose.
| Territory | USD | GBP | EUR |
|---|---|---|---|
| United Kingdom | $2,700 per year | £2,000 per year | €2,350 per year |
| North America (US and Canada) | $4,000 per year | £3,000 per year | €3,500 per year |
| Europe (includes the UK) | $4,000 per year | £3,000 per year | €3,500 per year |
| Global (all countries) | $6,550 per year | £4,900 per year | €5,700 per year |
Prices exclude VAT; any VAT is shown at checkout before you pay. Source: Presswire’s published rates.
To be plain about the trade-offs: Presswire is not the cheapest list on this page, and its database is smaller by count than Semrush’s. What the subscription adds is press release distribution to newsrooms, with a human editorial check and test-send before anything goes out, rather than an email tool you run yourself. If you would rather not subscribe, single releases cost $250 for one region or $400 worldwide, each with a bespoke media list, and individual services need no contract. Our guide to how a media contact database fits with distribution covers when a subscription makes sense. For the wider field, see our comparison of Cision alternatives.
