Sky’s the Limit for UK-First City App Treasure Trail Challenge

[PRESSWIRE] Coventry, United Kingdom – 19.08.2014 — In a UK first, Whitefriars Housing launched a city-wide housing app this week which leads residents on a journey around Coventry to raise the profile of affordable housing’s role in the city’s success.

The app holds a series of clues to three secret locations in Coventry’s city centre. Armed with their smartphone or tablet, residents then head to where they think the secret locations are. If they are right, when they point their phone at the location, a 3D image of one of Coventry’s tower blocks will appear. Players will also unlock information, animations and videos about the improvement works underway in the city and the history of Coventry’s skyline.

The app, which is thought to be the first city-wide trail-based app in the UK, has captured the attention of Coventry businesses, tourist attractions, Coventry City Council and Visit Coventry who have backed the launch. Support includes displaying window stickers, web banners and distributing clues to visitors, employees and customers.

Richard Osborne, Director of Property Services at Whitefriars, said: “We are investing heavily in our homes across Coventry with £26m due to be spent this year in addition to the £31m spent last year.

“We are proud of the results achieved and difference this is making to our residents. Sometimes the improvements aren’t easy for people living beyond the blocks to see so by encouraging people to explore the area around them we hope to be better able to tell our story of how we are investing in Coventry. We hope that Quest Coventry provides a new and innovative way of engaging with residents and visitors.
