Insightly Announces New Security Enhancements to Combat Small Business Data Threats

The Advanced Permissions feature, along with several other new security features, responds to market demand for greater protections for the sensitive information stored in CRMs, including SOC 2 compliance, a Recycle Bin feature to restore accidental data loss, and the ability to track user updates in sales opportunities.

With small and medium businesses being the target for more than 60 percent of cyber attacks last year, owners are relying on their CRM solutions to protect their data. Insightly’s new Advanced Permissions feature, available onprofessional and enterprise subscription plans, creates layers of permissions based on the level of user so the right people can get to the right records without compromising data security. This limits the opportunities for human error and outside cyber attacks.

“Insightly’s CRM is key to helping our team with productivity and reporting, while simultaneously addressing data security concerns,” said Heidi Truitt, international sales director at Classical Conversations. “With the Advanced Permissions feature, supervisors can view team activity across each contractors’ network of contacts. We can customize capabilities depending on position, ensuring employee transparency but also data protection.”

In addition to the Advanced Permissions feature, Insightly will continue to support the security needs of sales teams and executives with the following:

  • Security Organization Controls (SOC 2) – SOC 2 Compliance is a security standard developed by the AICPA (The American Institute of CPAs) and required by many industries managing sensitive data. Insightly has controls in place to prevent unauthorized third-party access and ensure data is safe, ultimately allowing for a SOC 2 certification.
  • Recycle Bin feature – Human error is the No. 1 cause of data loss, so having a backup plan in place is key for business owners managing their contacts and projects through a CRM. The Recycle Bin feature allows customers to retrieve data that was accidentally deleted.
  • Opportunity History Report – This new report displays changes to a sales opportunity, creating a visible audit trail of user updates on any sales opportunity.

“Keeping business and customer data safe while offering flexibility is a top priority for us,” said Anthony Smith, founder and CEO of Insightly. “Many of our customers are small businesses who are particularly vulnerable to data loss, as they don’t have the monetary allowance for a large IT security spend. Insightly continues to add security features to combat these liabilities and risks and help our customers achieve business success.”
