One week to go before the winners of the Globe Travel Awards are announced

The highlight of the travel industry calendar, The Globe Travel Awards recognise the best in the business with a glittering awards ceremony held on Tuesday 27th January 2009, in the Great Room of London’s premier hotel – the Grosvenor House Hotel.

Attendee’s will attend a pre-awards drinks reception, sponsored by Tourism Australia, followed by a delicious three-course dinner, with free flowing wine, sponsored by Attraction World.

The winners of the 40 Globe Travel awards will be announced by a leading media personality.

In previous years hosts including Graham Norton, Johnny Vaughn, Dara O’Brien and the 2008 compere Mark Lamarr have entertained attendees with their witty banter.

The entertainment doesn’t stop here – attendees will have the opportunity to win a large cash prize courtesy of the scratch card competition sponsored by Avis, entertainment will be provided by a top secret act, who will be following in the footsteps of soul diva Jocelyn Brown, who brought the house down at the 2008 event.

The night doesn’t stop after the awards have been announced, the after show party is sponsored by Tourism Australia and if it gets too hot on the dance floor, you can always relax at the Chill & Meet Bar, which is sponsored by C&M Travel Recruitment.

In addition to recognising and rewarding the best in the travel industry, The Globe Travel Awards are also supporting a very worthwhile cause – The Anthony Nolan Trust.

In 2008, generous attendees helped to raise £4,000 for the charity, which helps leukaemia sufferers around the world by promoting bone marrow donors. TW Publishing Director Simon Ferguson is delighted to be supporting this worthwhile organisation and adds,

“The Globes are such a fantastic night, and the generosity and support shown by the travel industry on this special night is phenomenal. We are delighted to be able to support such a great organisation. I know that this year we will raise even more valuable funds.”

Since their launch in 1977, The Globes have recognised and rewarded the travel industry’s leading companies, most innovative ideas and the strongest performers – for the past 32 years, winning a Globe has embodied the highest standards within every area of the travel industry.

The integrity of The Globes is paramount to the success of the awards, as it remains one of the few awards ceremonies where the winners are voted solely by the industry.

It is the travel agents who vote for the winner, ensuring the highest standards and the ultimate service is recognised.

Recently The Globes have introduced the Consumer Awards, nine awards voted for by readers of Associated Newspapers. Winning a Globe really does mean that you are the best and most highly regarded in your field.

The winners will be announced on Tuesday 27th January 2009.
