ENGLAND’S STRONGEST MAN TO BE CROWNED IN ESSEX

Valhalla Festival of Muscle and Power hosts contest in July

The 2011 contest to find England’s Strongest Man will be held in Essex this summer. As part of the Valhalla Festival of Muscle and Power on Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 July, 12 of England’s biggest and strongest men will be battling not just for the title, but the chance to represent their nation at the UK’s Strongest Man final later in the year.

CHALLENGE AN OLYMPIAN, WIN A BIKE WITH CYCLES UK

Bike retailers Cycles UK are offering visitors to the Kent County Show (Friday 16th to Sunday 18th July at the Kent County Showground, Detling) the chance to win a Raleigh Airlite 400, worth £949.

To win, they need to achieve the fastest time over 250 metres on a training bike at the Cycles UK stand. The challenge is that at the beginning of the day, Olympic gold medallist Jamie Staff will be setting the time to beat. World Record 10K Time Falls at Spira 'Defy The Ban' 10K Race

EL PASO, Texas, Oct. 15 - The Spira "World's Fastest 10K" lived up to its billing Sunday as Hillary Kimaiyo of Kenya set a new world record for a 10K race.

Kimaiyo edged out countryman Isaac Kimaiyo by three seconds, finishing in 26:01.2, and smashing Haile Gebrselassie's world's fastest 10K record.

Gebrselassie's time of 27:02 was also bested by Kenyan Joseph Koech, who finished third in 27:01.9.
