About The Global Leadership Foundation (GLF)

Founded in 2004 by Nobel Laureate FW de Klerk, former President of South Africa, GLF is a network of former world leaders who work discreetly on governance and conflict issues in countries in transition or facing particular challenges. It currently has 29 Members, mostly former Heads of Government and former senior Ministers. It has worked in Africa, Asia, Latin America and Eastern Europe.

Members work in small teams and in their personal capacity offering private advice to today’s Heads of Government on issues of their concern. The countries in which they work are only made public if the leader with whom they are working so wishes.

GLF is expanding it activities and the post of CEO has been created to facilitate this. The former position of Secretary General has been divided between the CEO and a new post of Projects Director, which will be held by the former Secretary General, Sir Robin Christopher.
