Develop green spaces in the Netherlands with EU Space technologies

1

The 1st CASSINI Hackathon is a bold initiative to connect hackers to space by using geospatial information from Copernicus Earth observation data and its services and/or positioning technologies from Galileo & EGNOS. From 18-20 June, hackers across 10 European countries will be able to access this data and create innovative products and services that will start ‘Digitising Green Spaces’. The hackathon is open to anyone that has a passion for nature, space technologies and entrepreneurship.

“The 1st CASSINI Hackathon is a great opportunity for us to showcase the many applications of these technologies to people who have the skills to imagine and create innovative, sustainable, and cost-efficient solutions for our future,” said Catherine Kavvada, ‎Director, Directorate B – Innovation & Outreach, Directorate-General for Defence Industry and Space, European Commission. We are looking forward to seeing all the ways in which participants will look to digitise green spaces using data and signals from the Copernicus, Galileo, & EGNOS programmes.”

Potential hackers have three challenges that aim to improve and protect green spaces: #1 Discover your city / #2 Staying fit & healthy / #3 Protecting our rural areas. The CASSINI Hackathon Netherlands will focus on creating a circular economy, promoting healthy lifestyles, and using AI to protect rural areas.

The CASSINI Hackathon Netherlands is organised by EscherCloud, a sustainable data centre integrated within an AI Hub! Artificial Intelligence (AI) will have a dominant impact on economic development and EscherCloud believes that by combining Earth observation data and AI, solutions to the challenges of Digitising Green Spaces will be accelerated. To make this vision possible, participants will have access to the NVIDIA Omniverse, as well as support from its network of AI specialists. Find out more about CASSINI Hackathons at hackathons.cassini.eu/netherlands.

The winner of the CASSINI Hackathon Netherlands will join the NVIDIA Inception programme, a leading accelerator for AI start-ups. Plus, the 3 overall winners across all editions will each receive over 100 hours of expert mentoring!

Whether you are an experienced hacker or a first timer looking to enter the space industry, EscherCloud will team you up with fellow hackers and experienced experts to bring your vision to life. Thinking about registering? Head over to hackathons.cassini.eu/hackers now to sign up!
