This year’s tournament boasts one of the strongest player fields in years with some of the best PGA TOUR golfers in the world participating, including Bubba Watson, Matt Kuchar, Jason Day, Sergio Garcia, Dustin Johnson, Keegan Bradley, Zach Johnson and others. The Travelers Championship’s net proceeds will support more than 180 charities throughout New England, including The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp, a summer camp for children battling serious illnesses.

One of the new features at this year’s tournament is Fan Appreciation Day, which will be held on Wednesday, June 18. To help celebrate Travelers renewing its title sponsorship through 2024, Fan Appreciation Day will include: giving red umbrellas to the first 2,024 spectators to arrive; an opportunity for fans to win $500 for the charity of their choice; special autograph sessions; and gifts that will be given to fans randomly throughout the day.
The Travelers Championship has become known for its fan-friendly atmosphere and will deliver a variety of events to engage a wide audience and generate funds for charity. Some of these events include:
The Travelers Celebrity Pro-Am on June 18, with stars including George Lopez, Donnie Wahlberg, Chris Berman, Kevin Ollie, Tim Wakefield, Doug Flutie, Ming Tsai, Jim Calhoun and others;
FML, CPA Celebrity Mini Golf Tournament on June 18 featuring Bridget Moynahan;
Women’s Day on June 19, featuring Arianna Huffington, celebrity chef Ming Tsai, a golf clinic and other activities for women; and
Concerts on Friday, June 20, featuring the Little River Band and Saturday, June 21, featuring Jefferson Starship.
PGA TOUR pros will once again have the opportunity to win $10,000 for their favorite charity, donated by Travelers, during Tuesday’s practice round. To win, the pros will compete for the first hole-in-one or closest to the pin on The Umbrella at 15 ½, a 40-foot floating green in the shape of the iconic Travelers red umbrella logo on the pond between Holes 15 and 16. Past winners include Justin Rose, Chad Campbell, Ricky Barnes and Ben Kohles.
Fans on site will have a chance to win a prize by taking a golf shot at a smaller version of The Umbrella at 15 ½ at the Travelers Chipping Challenge. For every hole-in-one throughout the week at the Travelers Chipping Challenge, Travelers will donate $100 to The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp. Those making a hole-in-one during Wednesday’s Fan Appreciation Day will have the opportunity to take a shot at The Umbrella at 15 ½ at the end of play. From there, all participants who land their shot on the floating umbrella will win $500 for the charity of their choice and a Travelers Championship gift pack. The Travelers Chipping Challenge is located in the SUBWAY® Fan Zone, an interactive entertainment area in the center of the course that also includes mini golf, a rock wall, concessions and other activities for fans.
Travelers is committed to supporting members of the military and their families and the tournament will once again recognize service members with many military appreciation events. All active, reserve and retired military service members and their dependents will gain free admission throughout the week. The tournament will also host a veterans hiring and resource fair on Tuesday, June 17. Additionally, the Travelers Championship has partnered with Operation Shower for the fourth straight year to provide a baby shower for expectant military wives. Operation Shower is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose mission is to provide joyful baby showers for military families to ease the burden of deployment.
In recognition of the official start of the 2014 Travelers Championship on June 16, the lights on Travelers Tower in Hartford will shine bright red throughout the week.
The competition rounds of the Travelers Championship will be played June 19 – 22, and will be broadcast live on Golf Channel from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. EDT on Thursday and Friday, and 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. EDT on Saturday and Sunday; and on CBS at 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. EDT on Saturday and Sunday.
