Warndon School signs and sings to raise money to help deaf children

[PRESSWIRE] London, United Kingdom – 28 January, 2016 –A local school is learning to sing with sign language in a bid to raise money to help vulnerable deaf children in the UK and Uganda. Regency High School in Warndon is taking part in sign2sing, a fundraising event organised by the Deaf Health Charity SignHealth.

The children will be performing a specially written song with signs on the 5th February while raising money for the charity. The school caters for students between 11-19 years with a range of additional needs including moderate, severe and profound learning disabilities, physical and medical needs, and sensory impairment. The pupils will be singing to the specially written song using Signalong, which is based on British Sign Language and is designed to help children and adults with communication difficulties

Headteacher Mr Frank Steel said: “The school is really delighted to be taking part in sign2sing for a third time. The event really works really well for Regency as we have a strong culture of using Signalong coupled with a strong musical tradition”

The pupils will be raising money for SignHealth by each bringing in a £1. They will be joining hundreds of other schools, choirs, businesses and community groups taking part in sign2sing from 1-7 February.
