Local pupils sign and sing to help deaf children

[PRESSWIRE] London, United Kingdom – 28 January, 2016 — Children from Oasis Academy Johanna in Waterloo are learning to sing with sign language in a bid to raise money to help vulnerable deaf children in the UK and Uganda. The school is taking part in sign2sing, a fundraising event organised by the Deaf Health Charity SignHealth.

The children will be performing a specially written song with signs on the 3rd February while raising money for the charity.

Music teacher Ms Louise Vane said: “This is the fourth year we have taken part in sign2sing. The children absolutely love learning the song and signs. They learn so quickly and enjoy going home to show what they’ve learned to their families.”

She added: “Children who are normally shy about doing actions or joining in really respond well to sign2sing. You can see their confidence grow.”

Schools, businesses, choirs and groups from across the UK are taking part in sign2sing from 1-7 February.
