The Vital People Grant is designed to support and recognize leaders who make outstanding contributions working at Toronto not-for-profit organizations. With more than 500 active Funds, including endowments and assets under administration of more than $400 million, the Toronto Foundation is one of Canada’s largest charitable foundations.
Carly drives EMYS’ Sexual Wellness Education & Empowerment Team (SWEET) and Estimated Time of Arrival (ETA) programs. SWEET and ETA provides client-centred treatment for survivors of domestic human trafficking and youth involved in sex work. SWEET and ETA connects youth (12-29) with lived experience in sex work and domestic human trafficking to a range of emotional, therapeutic, and social service supports.
As a result of Carly’s efforts, EMYS has trained over 1,500 service providers including law enforcement, teachers and social workers over the past several years. The programs are currently funded by Canadian Women’s Foundation, MAC AIDS Fund and Hedge Funds Canada.
Carly’s EMYS gender-based violence team has established EMYS as the go-to thought leader and leading service provider to one of Toronto’s most vulnerable youth communities – those involved in domestic human trafficking.
The Vital People Grants, funded through the Vital Toronto Fund, is awarded to support the formal training or other informal development opportunities that best enable not-for-profit leaders to build their skills and knowledge.
