Sailsquare Launches in The UK With Commitment to Make Sailing Holidays Accessible to All

The company is committed to making sailing holidays in locations such as the Mediterranean and the Caribbean accessible to the widest number of travellers. Sailsquare lets travellers and boat owners get to know each other before the holiday begins via its unique online community, trip cost on average is 25% lower than similar holidays offered by traditional operators.

Working on a ‘sharing economy’ model, Sailsquare is a P2P (peer to peer) platform and community that connects travellers with private boat-owning skippers offering unique sailing experiences. Rather than just appeal to the type of holidaymaker who can afford the high-end yacht trips, Sailsquare makes sailing holidays more accessible and affordable by sharing costs among participants. It also brings travellers together as friends through its online community, and creates a more inclusive sailing experience: over 60% of Sailsquare’s members are first-time sailors who have found the site via Facebook or other social channels, and many are single travellers.

“The days when sailing holidays were a luxury that only the rich and famous enjoyed are over!” said Simone Marini, CEO of Sailsquare. “We are committed to making sailing holidays available to everybody, regardless of previous experience or whether they’re travelling in a group or on their own. Through our active online community, travellers can find a trip and fellow holidaymakers that best suits them – they can even start getting to know each other via our online message system. For many of our members, the ‘holiday’ begins before it’s even started!”

“The sharing economy is changing the way people go on holiday,” continued Marini. “It’s now possible to use P2P platforms to find stylish accommodation and transport all around the world, often in locations that were previously beyond the reach of the average traveller: Sailsquare does the same for sailing holidays. For today’s online travel planners, traditional holidays hold little appeal – instead, they want to share new experiences with like-minded people. Social media-driven communities such as Sailsquare are increasingly becoming the focus for this new type of holiday.”

Sailsquare’s entry into the UK market is part of its rapid expansion, with the company now offering sailing experiences in more worldwide locations than ever. Over 2,000 travellers have already enjoyed a trip via Sailsquare, with 97% reporting full satisfaction with their experience.
