Waterford Institute Releases Waterford Early Learning Math and Science, Waterford SmartStart Curriculum on iPad

Waterford Early Learning’s literacy program for iPad was released last year and adopted by schools across the U.S. The latest update includes some 450 activities optimized for touch screens and developmentally appropriate intentional instruction. It’s available now to Waterford Cloud subscribers for free on the App Store.

“It was important for this release to bring the subjects back together for mobile because math skills have a tremendous impact on early literacy,” said Waterford President Dr. Benjamin Heuston. “It’s true to Waterford’s proven pedagogical approach.”

For decades, Waterford has coupled technology-enabled early literacy software with math and science software for children. Research shows preschool math scores predict achievement into high school and are a better indicator of future literacy achievement than even early literacy scores. Early math can also help increase oral language skills: vocabulary, inference, independence and grammatical complexity.

Waterford is the only program on the market providing a blended, personalized approach to math and science as part of the literacy curriculum. Moreover, the new Waterford preschool product, SmartStart, blends several subjects, including reading, math, science, social studies, executive function and cognition.

Waterford curriculum is designed to help all children build the foundation for a lifetime of learning. Waterford Early Learning is an award-winning, research-based K-2 early learning curriculum delivered through personalized learning software and teacher resources. SmartStart is a comprehensive curriculum with software, offline materials, teacher lesson plans and parent resources designed especially for the pre-K classroom.

“Waterford provides a deeply personal, multi-sensory learning experience based on a curriculum that is proven effective among early learning students,” Heuston said. “That personal learning experience is the key to instilling confidence and a foundation for lifelong learning in every individual child.”
